Prof. Dr. Javed Iqbal Kazi, a brilliant doctor was targeted and killed on 17th February, 2014 in front of the Karachi Medical And Dental College. He was affiliated with JPMA since 1995 as an author and reviewer and was selected as a Board member in 2005.
Prof. Dr. Javed Kazi was a graduate of the Dow Medical College, Karachi  belonging to the 1980 batch.
He did his post graduation as M phil and later Phd from Cambridge, UK. He worked together with Professor Peter Furness in Leicester General Hospital to develop an artificial neural network for the early diagnosis of early graft rejection. His main interest was in Renal & Transplant Pathology and Electron Microscopy.
He was the Professor and Head Department of Pathology, Karachi Medical & Dental College and Abbassi Shaheed Hospital since September 1999 till date. A few months back he was given the responsibilities of the Dean of Medicine.
He was also the Consultant Histopathologist at the  Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation,  Karachi, since 1995 and at  Ziauddin University Hospital Karachi, since 2004
Dr Javed Kazi was an integral part of JPMA. He was an excellent reviewer in the field of Histopathology. We could always rely on him for good and prompt reviews. He also wrote very appropriate and updated editorials for JPMA.
His death is a very big loss for the journal and all of us. He was a sincere friend who would always stand up to help us when we needed him.
