My first experience of JPMA was in 1988, when as a postgraduate student I had to submit an article for publication. Dr Sarwar Zuberi was then the Editor-in-Chief of the journal. I found her very encouraging and supportive. A few months before her death, I get a letter asking me to join the editorial board. I can still remember the smile on Dr Zuberi\'s face in her hospital room at Ziauddin Memorial Hospital, when she said that she was looking forward for me to work with her. Little did we know that she was to pass away a few days later.
The work of Dr Sarwar Zuberi was taken over by Dr Fatema Jawad. Dr Fatema has continued to work with the same enthusiasm to improve the journal. The journal was indexed with Index Medicus in 1975; it now has articles from outside Pakistan. The journal was put on the electronic version in 2003.We are informed of the updates of ICMJE at regular intervals. All of us should work with honesty and dedication to make this journal one of the most read around the world.
My best wishes to Dr Fatema Jawad on the 60th anniversary of JPMA.
